Banana Island is a mixed-use waterfront scheme in the bustling city of Lagos, Nigeria's economic and cultural hub.
The project is located upon prime lagoon-front real estate and poses a unique proposition for Lagos; a live-work site. The programme combines four high-end residential units with 4,000 m² of flexible office space in two different buildings on a 6,100 m² site.
The office building is the public front to the site, making a dramatic architectural statement suitable for a building that ends a grand boulevard. In initial schemes, planted trellising enlivens the façade while offering shade to the fully-glazed offices.
The design not only generates optimum value from the site, but also brings a new architectural language to Lagos.
Unlike other developments, Banana Island's residential units will share some of the advantages normally reserved for penthouses: a 180º aspect, deep balconies and cooling pools. The penthouse here will enjoy 360º views with a private pool and shaded terracing.
